Larson, Duke of Mongolia
The Kangxi Emperor (r. 1661–1722), the great Qing sovereign under whom the Khalkha Mongols submitted to Manchu rule and the 1689 Treaty of Nerchinsk fixed the China–Russia border. Larson marks his reign as the turn when China, long a vassal of Mongolia, became its overlord.
