The sacred mountain rising just south of Urga. Under the Living Buddha all hunting and killing of animals was forbidden on its slopes, leaving it a wildlife sanctuary. It is Богд хан уул ("Holy Khan Mountain"), today a strictly protected area on the edge of Ulaanbaatar.
