Nikolai Przhevalsky, the pioneering Russian explorer of Central Asia under whom Kozlov trained. The wild horse of the Mongolian steppe — the takhi, Przewalski's horse — carries his name.

Nikolai Przhevalsky, the Russian army officer and explorer whose expeditions opened much of inner Asia to science (the wild Przewalski's horse is named for him). He had reached only as far as the Dalai Nor of Inner Mongolia.
